The Geo-blocking page provides powerful security and compliance tools for your station. If your broadcasting license restricts you to certain regions, or if you simply want to target a specific global audience, this feature allows you to control exactly who can access your streams and public pages.
Just like your schedule and social media settings, any changes you make to your geo-blocking rules are applied instantly to all your published players and public pages upon saving.
Activating Geo-blocking
By default, your station is open to the entire world. To enable geographical restrictions, click the Enabled toggle switch located in the top right corner of the Geo-blocking card.
When you want to remove all restrictions and open your station back up globally, simply toggle this switch off.
Choosing Your Mode
Once activated, you must choose how you want the platform to filter your incoming listeners. The system operates in one of two modes:
1. Allow List (Whitelisting)
When this mode is selected, your station becomes strictly private. Only listeners from the countries you explicitly add to the list will be able to hear your players or visit your public pages.
- Example: If you only add “Greece” and “Cyprus,” a listener in the United Kingdom will be blocked from accessing your stream.
2. Block List (Blacklisting)
When this mode is selected, your station remains mostly public. Listeners from anywhere in the world can tune in, except those located in the countries you explicitly add to the list.
- Example: If you only add “United States,” listeners from the US will be blocked, but the rest of the world will still have full access.
Important: If you choose the Allow list mode, make sure to add your own country! Otherwise, you might accidentally block yourself from viewing your own public pages and testing your live players.
Adding and Removing Countries
Managing your country list is incredibly straightforward:
- Click on the country selection dropdown field at the bottom of the card.
- Search for or select the countries you want to apply to your active mode.
- The selected countries will appear as tags with their national flags.
- To remove a country, simply click the small x on its tag.
Once your list is configured perfectly, your security rules will instantly protect your streams across the WebRadioPlayers ecosystem.
